Lighthouses are usually painted vertically, but I wanted to do Sanibel Island's horizontally — to capture the feeling of the rustic houses, dune vegetation and sprawling beach that lay in front of it. Lighthouses are supposed to light up the night, but this one — even with its light off — seems to do a good job of it in the daytime, too.
